One-Line Bio

I'm a philosopher at Coastal Carolina University.

Clifford Sosis grew up in Spring Glen, NY (the heart of the borscht belt). He went to Ellenville Central High School, where he made movies, painted and wrote poetry. This is where he became familiar with the work of Nietzsche, Camus and Freud. In 2000, he attended Ithaca College where he majored in philosophy. While at Ithaca, he became acquainted with the work of Marx, Sartre, Ayer, Wittgenstein and Quine. He was interested in philosophy of science and how we discover the way the world is, but he wanted to know how we discover the way the world should be. In 2004, he began to attend Florida State University, where he studied philosophy of mind/psychology/science, epistemology and metaphilosophy. During this period, he again became interested examining the good life from a non-traditional perspective and began to work with Michael Bishop on the philosophy and psychology of well-being. He received his Ph.D. Fall, 2011 after which he spent a year teaching full-time at Mississippi State University. He is currently a lecturer at Coastal Carolina University.
